Net Metering is a system that allows consumers who have installed a solar electric system the opportunity to reduce their power bill by feeding the excess electricity produced by their system back into the local utility grid.
Simply, whenever you generate more power than you use, you get credit for every watt you produce from your power company. On a sunny day, if you're not using much power, you can literally stand there and watch your electric meter spin backwards, making you money all the time.
